Sin number one - the only one that matters - is the decision to call creeping evil the taint. Yes, you read that right. Taint. Hearing people refer to the taint with fear in their voice is plain ridiculous. Didn't ANYONE involved at ANY step of production put a bug in the producer's ear that it may not be wise to use the slang for a person's private nether-region as a substitute for evil? Truly ming-boggling.
The remaining acting sins are of the garden variety regularly documented on this site. Bad readings, poor writing, laughable attempts at emotion. There's a LOT of dialogue in this game, and a couple actors are quite good. It's just that's they're completely washed away in a player's memory by the tsunami of mediocre to bad voice work.
Exhibit A: “Nay, it is something strange and, and cold...like the taint.”
Yep. There it is. You were hoping it was an idle threat, but nope. Someone involved in this production decided that putting the taint front and center would be a good idea. For this site, it was masterful. In any other context we are left only with a "Wha..." dangling from the glistening corner of our slack jaws.
Exhibit B: “I told you, HO, do not expect much wisdom from him.”
Bad writing. That's about all that needs to be said.
Exhibit C: “Methinks you care little for your sister when I think on the time...”
This game is littered with stupid execution of faux olde world speak like this. The line here has the bonus of convoluted construction and poor writing as well. Poppycock, I say.
