Audio Atrocities (TM) :: Dynasty Warriors 3 (Playstation 2)

The Not-So-Ancient-Chinese-Secret of this Atrocity is that Koei seems to have adopted a self-aware stance when localizing this chapter of the series. Apparently faced without the resources to match the Japanese acting, they took a cue from the game's rocking soundtrack and ran with a cheesy chop-socky take on the Asian action motif.

It didn't work.

There's ultra-fruity gayness, booming overacting, flat delivery, Shatner-isms, you name it, it's here. Definitely a smorgasbord of Wrong by actors whose subscription to The Method ran out long ago.

Exhibit A: “Beat me if you caa-an...”
An invitation no self-respecting Samurai would accept...in public at least.

Exhibit B: “Death can be a....beau...ti...ful...thing...uhhh...”
And especially beautiful if it means no more listening to voice clips like these.

Exhibit C: “We will not lose to magic...let's go FORWARD!”
Another case of an obviously miscast or overworked person doing a voice much younger/higher than should have been attempted...with Atrocious results.
