Fortunately, I thought the bad acting was so bad it became enjoyable (unlike, say, Robot Alchemic Drive). There are tone problems, inappropriate comments, acting by people in the same "room" that comes off like it was done universes apart. Pretty much any kind of hilarity you could want in a badly acted game is in here. For that reason, I actually recommend this game if you want to laugh. It's a fun kind of bad. Check out these clips, you'll see what I mean. Exhibit A: “...In his blood? Way ta go, kid!” Resident Evil style tone problems abound here. Their poor associate has bit the dust in gruesome fashion, and they only seem upset they can't use the elevator. Exhibit B: “Sarcosian? As in from Sarcosia?” No, as in from Greenland. I chalk this up to a mistranslation of Japanese content. In Japanese games, characters often bounce back the same thing slightly different to show that they understand what was said. This is due to the somewhat imprecise nature of Japanese relative to English, and happens in everyday Japanese life. It's way, WAY out of place here, though. It should have been fixed for the English version, but it wasn't, to our eternal glee. Exhibit C: “...and excape during the confusion...” "Excape?" The actor here reverts to kindergarten speech and decides "excape" is a better reading than "escape". Sure takes the edge off his bad-guy persona. The Rest: Haven't had enough? Here's some additional clips for your amusement: Clip 4, Clip 5, Clip 6, Clip 7, Clip 8, Clip 9, Clip 10, Clip 11 “Sarcosian? As in...from Sarcosia?” |
